Google Cloud launches Accenture unit to push Gemini into enterprises

Google Cloud and Accenture are standing up a joint unit, the Accenture Gemini Enterprise Business Group, that will send engineers into enterprises to help them adopt Google's AI tools. Google will train up to 1,000 of the consultancy's forward-deployed engineers to build custom AI applications on the Gemini Enterprise platform, the company said. The Wall Street Journal first reported the deal.

The move is Google's latest push into the FDE model that OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft, and Amazon have all recently adopted, betting that helping enterprises implement AI can become its own trillion-dollar business. Hyperscalers are committing hundreds of billions of dollars a year to GPUs, data centers, and power capacity while AI-attributable revenue remains a fraction of that investment. Alphabet reported $811 billion in purchase commitments and contractual obligations as of June 30.

Google trails rivals in enterprise AI adoption. Ramp data from August puts Google at roughly 6% of enterprise AI spending among U.S. businesses, versus Anthropic's 43.5% and OpenAI's 39.7%. Google Cloud generated $24.8 billion in the second quarter, much of it driven by enterprise AI.
